Frequently Asked Questions

When buying a drone for the first time, it’s important to consider the type of drone you want, including features, brand name, and affordability. Opting for a less expensive drone is a smart move and a great way to learn the basics before spending the big bucks on a higher-quality machine. Most drones today fall into two pricing categories – under $150 or over $500. Cheaper drones have basic features and controls, while pricier ones include high-definition camera, extra equipment and autonomous flight modes.

Most drones are relatively easy to repair after a crash, but the cost of parts can add up, so locating a drone that includes extra blades is essential for a beginner. We recommend DroneX Pro

As of September 2022, flying a drone in the US in public places, beaches, parks, neighbor hoods etc is completely legal as long as it’s under 250 grams. Check out DJI Mini 2 SE. However, If your drone is over 250 grams and you plan to fly your drone in public places, you’ll need to take a short pilot course and register your drone with the FAA. Not worry, it’s simple and won’t take more than 15 minutes. If plan to fly your drone on your own private property, you don’t need to do anything. To learn more about drone laws, click here.

If you plan on a beginner-level drone, you should consider getting extra blades and a memory chip. Not to worry, they’re affordable! And depending on the type of drone you order, an extra frame and rechargeable battery (extra blades may come with it) is worth considering. If you’ve never piloted a drone before, there’s a high chance of crashing a few times before getting the hang of things, so having extra parts helps insure you stay in the air.
